Effects Of Dried Apricots?

AVON Avon livable

livable or sustainable development?

Why, when you were the first to announce your candidacy, not having chosen the theme of "sustainable development" for your campaign?

Jean-Marie Virot:
Because the term "sustainable development" is an intellectual fraud which it seems urgent to get out. A 10 year old child will quickly realize that our little planet Earth, with limited resources, we can not do 6 billion people living today, tomorrow 9 billion, making believe that we can waste sustainably. Growth of 2% per year doubled the consumption of resources in 35 years. Naturally, we can not take this speech to people who, here and around the world live below the poverty line. They have the right to development, but this development can be designed on the model we have today.

Is that a reason for having abandoned this theme and the outgoing mayor? For if we judge by the latest edition of the Elan, he had no such scruples?

V
JM: We do not abandon him about, because for the reasons I have outlined, we are working on the concept of "livable development", not "sustainable", which is based more on respect for our planet. What counts for us is not the term used, but concrete actions that we do, what we do and how they are received - or lived - by the Avon.
I sat on the City Council of Avon over the last seven years, and on this point, I noticed that the outgoing mayor, there are still a few months, especially during the fiscal policy debate, did not understand all aspects of "sustainable development" was defined as there are now over 15 years, drew no conclusions or not.

Examples?

JM V: During these seven years on City Council, as head of an opposition that we wanted constructive, we have always offered to guide us towards livable development. For example:
• The Youth Club, we met the architect and engineering services in 2003 to their offering energy saving solutions and water. Refused by the city: too expensive and too innovative! • The Canteen
Avon Centre: 2006 proposal for a solar water heater. Mayor's response: "Too expensive and not enough sun in Avon."
• Street lighting: I met with the private consulting firm Project City, asking him to turn off a light fixture on 3 rue du Monceau spent 23 h. I was told that was impossible!
is why we must act with a fresh eye and change the routine.

How does your program respond better to "developing liveable?

V
JM: First, we are committed to establish an "Agenda 21 recognized."
This is an action program for the 21st century facing another type of development. It was adopted by the signatories of the Declaration Rio de Janeiro in June 1992, including France. Its main objectives are the fight against poverty and social exclusion. It will also promote the production of goods and services compatible with the protection of the environment and our society.
It was 150 to 200 pages on which we work for 18 months. It will be the result of extensive consultation that we will organize with the people of Avon and aim to be "recognized" by the Ministry of Environment. Skip to the active realization of this project will require an additional 18 months. It is a very reasonable time to the views of the importance of construction and seriousness of our commitment. This is also the time it took the General Council of Seine et Marne to develop "Agenda 21 of the department, which has just been recognized by the department.
Upon our election, and without waiting for this document, we will reorient in a more economical for the taxpayer and also consume less energy, some expenditure in the 2008 budget, for example those concerning the replacement of street lights. We will also make ethical purchasing and living the local shops. Our development criteria
livable impose new standards of economy Heating future housing.
Our future is neither hell nor disastrous, but instead, full of hope and within our reach.

But the mayor, in most of his speeches, and even in his latest editorial in the Elan, refers to the "Agenda 21" that Mr. Dubrule himself and handed to President Chirac November 3, 1998. So there already!

V
JM: Let me laugh. This document has served to make a photo with the President of the Republic. There was never any hint of application. Besides, as I have often denounced in the City Council, it is completely hollow. It contains only three pages constituting no more than a summary of Agenda 21 that have been developed, as I have often claimed.

Maybe it's because he failed to get elected general counsel in 2001 on the slogan "Land of Fontainebleau?

JM V: As has been said during the ceremony vows demagogically also transformed into launch campaign for municipal elections by the member, design of Fontainebleau in Urban Community of over 50,000 inhabitants is not ours. We would prefer a federation of local communities who want to work together without domination and human scale.

Is it true that the fiscal policy debate has been structured around the "sustainable development" as it is written in the Elan No. 53?

JM V: Let the timeline.
late August or early September, while the law prohibits the six months before the election, he published an account mandate in No. 51 of the Elan. Not a line on the subject at hand.
A month later, thanks to the "Grenelle of the environment", this theme holds all publications.
The outgoing mayor believes hold the answer: the "fiscal policy debate." He then compile all actions, including some, such as sorting, date from the previous term of office and did, in fact, that meet legal requirements.
comes the debate in the municipal council. My group and I are trying to infuse a little spirit of the "Grenelle of the environment." The mayor admits this sporting in its editorial. But his sportsmanship will not play up what we said. Then he catches his
missed the No. 51 by an account of the mandate on this subject in No. 53. Did it feel light on the issue to voters, since he took the risk to put themselves in breach of the law, which prohibits this kind of complacency paid by the local (municipal staff and printing) within six months before the election!

In short, he began illegally!

V
JM: It should also to note that if the English term development "sustainable" was potentially carries a moral dimension, the term "sustainable" is contrary to him, totally unprepared. Which suits the mayor of the City Council during the July 3, 2007 stated bluntly: "Morality is a word I do not know. "
There are many other words he does not know: for example: transparency, dialogue, speak the truth, even if he uses indiscriminately. We have dozens of examples in memory.

In conclusion?

JM V: A true policy of "developing liveable" imposes a broad dialogue and that's what we do. Mr. Le Poulain refers to Claude Allegre, himself a highly disputed by scientists on the issue of global warming. We prefer the Nobel Peace Prize (IPCC, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).
